Weekly Update

Good afternoon, Rocket families!

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Salt Rock Township Fire Department who spent time touring our buildings to learn, ask questions, and provide feedback as part of their training time on Saturday. We appreciate your time and partnership for the safety of our campus.

Just a reminder that last Friday marked the midpoint of quarter 3! This is a good time to sit down with your child and go through grades on PowerSchool and do some goal setting. What goals can be set for the remainder of the quarter and the rest of the year? How can you create a plan to reach those goals? In addition to focusing on academics, we want to remind students and families of the importance of good decision making in behavior as well. It is important that we are kind, respectful, and helpful to others as we finish out the school year!

Please note, there is no school for students this Friday, February 16, 2024, as our staff has time for collaboration and professional development. There is also no school on Monday, February 19, 2024, in honor of Presidents’ Day.

We do have many events taking place this week! On Monday, high school boys’ basketball will play at home, jr. high boys’ basketball will play tournament games at home, and our board of education meeting will take place. On Tuesday, Ridgedale Youth Baseball and Softball sign-ups are scheduled from 6-7:30pm in the elementary cafeteria. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brad Pottkotter at 419-305-1435.  Please see this weblink for additional info: https://sites.google.com/view/ridgedalebaseballsoftball. Freshmen boys will play at home, and the Marion County Spelling Bee will take place at Tri Rivers on Tuesday as well. On Thursday, the high school girls’ basketball team will travel to Lima Perry. The bowling sectional tournaments are on Friday and Saturday. The high school boys’ basketball team will play at home on Friday.

Mark your calendars now for our musical production of Guys and Dolls! You will not want to miss this performance! You will have three opportunities to see the show on March 1-3! Check out our website for all of the details!

You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and the district website LiveFeed to see all of the amazing work being done in our schools!

We are still hiring! Consider becoming a substitute in our schools! You can join our team as a substitute aide, teacher, cafeteria worker, custodian, secretary, and/or bus driver. Please fill out an application on our website, and email me to set up an interview.

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Make it a great week, and Go, Rockets!
