Weekly Update

Good afternoon, Rocket families!

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, Monday, September 4, in honor of Labor Day. Mark your calendars for Friday, September 22. There is no school for students on this day as staff will be involved in professional development.

We are getting a rhythm going with our drop off and pick up out front on the east side of the building. This has required patience and support, but has made the process so much safer as we can clearly see all of the traffic flow. In order to continue to expedite the process, we have a couple of reminders. Please be sure to pull all of the way to the end of each building and pull as close as possible to the vehicle in front of you. This will allow us to have as many vehicles as possible in the driveway. If you have an elementary child who you need to buckle in, we are asking that you pull into a parking spot after you pick up your child to keep traffic flowing. We have had several sheriff deputies watch this process, and they have positively commented on the changes. With that being said, please be sure you are obeying the 20mph school speed limit zone. This is in effect anytime students are visible.

This year, we are continuing to use Public School Works for behavior management. Through this system, you can receive positive referrals as well as behavioral concerns. These referrals can be sent to your email, so be sure we have your most up to date email! As part of the Public School Works safety plan, we purchase the Stay Safe, Speak Up system as well. This button can be found on the main page of our website and allows students, families, and community to report any concerns they may have at any time of the day. It is monitored 24/7 by Public School Works employees, and each report is sent directly to administrative staff. If there is a high level of concern as deemed by Public School Works, the company calls administrative staff personally at any time of the day to alert us.

We have many events this week, so if you are looking for something to do, come support our Rockets! JV and Varsity volleyball will play at home on Tuesday against Cardington. Jr. High volleyball will play at Vanlue while Jr. High football plays against Crestline at home on Thursday. On Friday, golf will play in the county meet while Varsity football plays at Crestline. Cross Country will run at the McComb Invite on Saturday. Please check out all events on our Google Calendar by going to our website, clicking on “Menu,” and then clicking on “School Calendar.”

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Make it a great week, and Go, Rockets!
