Weekly Update

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

Thank you for your continued patience and support with our changes in the drop off/pick up transportation flow! With the family pick up and drop off in the front of the buildings on the east side, views are no longer blocked by the buildings and parked cars as they were out back. We do have a couple updates and reminders. If you are waiting to drop off or pick up your children, please pull up to the edge of the building and pull as close as you can to the vehicle in front of you. There should be two lanes in front of each building as well. This will allow more vehicles to wait in the driveway and keep the roads clearer. Please do not pull around stopped traffic in the road! This is not a safe practice. Also, remember that the school zone speed limit is 20mph. This is in effect anytime students are visible, so drive slowly for the safety of all. If you have students in both buildings to pick up, please pull through the elementary side and pick up students there first, then exit and pull through the jr/sr high side to pick up students. This will expedite the process as elementary students are released beginning at 2:55pm and jr/sr high students are released at 3pm. Thank you for waiting until 2:30pm to begin lining up for pick up as well!

Don’t forget that the staggered start for kindergarten continues tomorrow as students with last names beginning with N-Z will attend regular school hours. All kindergarten students will attend on Tuesday, August 29th. Preschool students will start tomorrow as well! The full calendars for the district and PK can be found on our website.

We have many events this week, so if you are looking for something to do, come support our Rockets! Jr. High volleyball will play Elgin at home tomorrow starting at 5:30pm. Cross Country competes at Harding at 4:30pm on Tuesday while Jr. High volleyball plays Wynford at 5pm. Golf will play at USV on Thursday during the day while High School volleyball plays at Elgin beginning at 5:30pm and Jr. High football plays Ridgemont at home beginning at 5:30pm. Varsity football plays at Ridgemont on Friday at 7pm. Cross Country will compete on Saturday in Bucyrus at the Elks Invite starting at 9am.

We are asking that students do not bring footballs to the football game as they can be distracting and cause issues. Thank you for your assistance with this. Check out all events by going to our website and clicking on “Menu,” then “School Calendar.”

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Make it a great week and year, and Go, Rockets!
