As we end the 2016-2017 school year and put the finishing touch's on another graduation ceremony, we begin to turn our attention to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. In preparation of the buildings for next school year we will continue our systematic upgrade of the facilities both outside and inside. This year we finished a re-lamp of the LED lighting in the parking lot at no cost to the district. We will begin the process of re-siding two of the four modular buildings this summer and will replace the decking and railing on the mods as well. We had some wind damage earlier this spring so we will be replacing the roof on the gymnasium as well as putting a new membrane on the lower portion of the Jr/Sr High School. We are exploring the possibility of replacing all of our current T8 fluorescent light bulbs with new LED lights in both buildings. This will come with a $60,000 price tag, however by doing the work ourselves we will save on overall labor costs. Along with those savings we will realize a $30,000 energy savings rebate, and with our lighting costs cut in half we will realize a simple payback of just over 2 years. We are soliciting bids to continue the parking lot project, we are looking at resurfacing the drive out front and the drive behind the buildings that serve as our drop off and pick up lanes. Finally the large project for this summer will be replacing the all weather track located at the football stadium. All of this work will begin in June with it all being complete by the time school starts with the exception of the track, which has a completion date of October 1, 2017.

On the business side of the district, the Ridgedale Local Board of Education, Treasurer and Administration have continued to be fiscally responsible we again had a clean audit with no findings for Fiscal Year 2016. Mrs. Stephanie Schee has had a clean audit every year that she has been with the district and continues to be a great steward of the public money.  The five (5) year forecast continues to run in the black for the next five years and we continue to find ways to cut cost without negatively affecting the education of our children.

I am very excited to begin the work this summer and look forward to the positive changes in the facilities. As always feel free to stop in the buildings at anytime, however for security reasons, please call the office that you wish to visit prior to your arrival. If you have any comments you would like to share, questions that you may have or any general concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me, either by phone:740-382-6065 ext. 101 or email: rbritton@ridgedaleschools.org and I will be happy to assist you.
